Inman News (March 16, 2011) Puts D.C. Metropolitan Area Tops

Inman News has just come out with their report on the real estate market across the country and the Washington, D.C./Maryland/Northern Virginia market came out on top. I’ve attached a link to the report for you:

When you read this please note that as you focus on individual communities, within each county, the numbers vary, but I think it is fair to say that the direction our real estate market is moving is superior to most of the rest of the country. Starting with two features in the article that are key – lower unemployment and a moving in/moving out (of the area) ratio that favors our increasing population.

The low unemployment rate makes it possible for more people to purchase a home and the increasing population put pressure on the need for housing. These two factors, coupled with low mortgage rates, should motive both the buyers and sellers this spring.
